Texas Water Development Board approves $3,000,000 to the Memorial Point Utility District (Polk County) for water and wastewater system improvements

AUSTIN – (March 9, 2023) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $3,000,000 from the Texas Water Development Fund to the Memorial Point Utility District (Polk County). The District will use the assistance for the planning, design, and construction of water and wastewater system improvements.

The District could save approximately $140,000 over the life of the loan by using the Texas Water Development Fund.

With the financial assistance approved today, the District will replace approximately 8,000 linear feet of aging water line; install new gate valves, meters, and fire hydrants; and repair approximately 7,500 linear feet of sewer lines. Other improvements include cleaning and inspection of the existing sewers, rehabilitation of manholes, and reconnection of sewer taps.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
